Kenniqua Lewter (00:00)
If your to-do list just keeps growing and you feel like you're just not getting anything done, welcome to part two of our four part series of I'm juggling way too many tasks. On today's episode of the systems rehab podcast, we're going to be talking about goal setting and how you can align your goals.

with the tasks and tactics that you are doing in your business every single day. And when we go through and we align that focus, that's what's going to help us to be able to understand the things that we're doing in our business and the things that we shouldn't be doing in our business that's keeping us stuck. So welcome on into the part number two. Now I'm Kenniqua I am the host of the Systems Rehab Podcast. So welcome, welcome.

in part number one, we talked about going through and the basically the three time traps keeping you stuck in the endless to do's in your business.

Today I wanted to go just a little bit more top level and think about the goals and how your goals, how you can align the things that you're doing in your business with your overarching goals. So when you think about your goals, I really want you just to write down maybe one to three goals that you have for your business that you wanna achieve over the next three months. And as you're writing that down, I also want you to take note of...

how those goals aligned with your vision for your business, and what exactly success is going to look like when you actually get there. So what are the metrics that you're going to have to determine whether or not you were successful in hitting that goal? And the one thing, too, I think that people do not account for at some points is how does it all make you feel? So how should your business, when you actually reach this particular goal,

How do you expect to feel? How do you expect your business feel? How do you expect for yourself to feel as you're going through it you're operating in that business? So what I say and why I feel like goals are important when it comes to it, it doesn't seem like these things are related, right? It doesn't seem like me setting goals is related to what I do on a day-to-day basis and me just juggling too many tasks. But the reason why those things are related

is because if we had a goal, so let's say for your business, you had a revenue goal. So of course, every goal is not gonna be a revenue goal, but let's just say for sake of examples that you have a revenue goal. So let's say you have a revenue goal to increase your revenue by 20 % in the next three months. And you're gonna do this by maybe getting three more retainer clients per month or something like that, right? So let's just use that as an example.

But in order for you to be able to reach that goal, there are certain things that you would need to do in order to be able to reach that goal. Your business isn't just going to grow by 20 % by itself. So what tasks or tactics do you need in order to be able to make that grow? And sometimes it's in the consistent things that we do to actually make it grow. like, for example, you can say, okay, I'm going to run ads. Those ads are going to bring me in clients and then that's going to help me to be able to grow. Okay.

Yeah, you could definitely do that. Maybe you can get ads and those ads will bring in clients for you in a short period of time. But let's say that's not a route that you're going. The route that you're going is maybe, hey, I'm going to make sure that I show up online consistently. I'm going to go through and provide value to my clients and I'm going to lead them through my lead funnel or a sales funnel. And I'm going to nurture my audience. And that in turn is going to eventually bring in enough leads that will thus turn into clients. Right.

Now, when we're saying something like that, then there are things that we have to do on a weekly basis and maybe on a daily basis in order to be able to reach that particular set goal, right? So maybe in order to be able to reach that goal, I would then need to go through like I like to, for example, let's just put myself in it. I like to go through and produce content. I'm creating content for YouTube. I'm creating content for the podcast. So.

That means I need to be able to show up online, right? I need to be able to record the videos. I need to be able to go through and edit the videos. I need to publish the videos. These are things that I need to do. So thus these things that I'm doing, they're totally aligned with the goal that I have. Now is every aspect of publishing, creating content from start to finish totally aligned with my company or the goal that I have? Yes. But do every single aspect of me

doing this from start to finish have to be me? No. For example, it requires it to be me for me to go through and create content. Like I am the face of my company. So I am the person that's going to record the video and the person that's gonna do the podcast. I'm the person that's gonna show up on social media. So that requires it to be me, but it doesn't require that I am the person that edited, right? I don't have to be the person to edit the content. I don't have to be the person that.

writes the descriptions that schedules the content and hits publish or schedules it out, right? I don't have to be that person. So when we understand that these are the ultimate goals that we have, and these are the tasks that we need in order to be able to achieve said goal, now we know, okay, these are the things that I am responsible for doing that I should be doing. And these are the things that.

I don't necessarily have to do and I can take this off my plate that I can either eliminate it because maybe it's not aligned or maybe I can go through and delegate it to someone else that can do that part that needs to be done. So that's why it's very important to implement or consider, at least consider your goals when you're going through and doing your tasks. So as you're going through and we talked about part of this in part one about going through and creating.

these long laundry list of tasks, right? So I personally don't recommend creating this long, I was that person that created long laundry list of 10 different items every single day to be able to go through and do that. But I recommend just having one, two, maybe three main things that you're actually doing in your business every single day, but have those things where they are things that are associated exactly with your goal.

So if you're not really sure about how to go through, like how do I actually go through and create a goal that is strategic that's going to help me to be able to move my business forward? So I like to use a smart acronym when I'm writing out my goals. Now my whole framework for my goals is the 12 week year. Now I did do a review or not really review, but a video podcast.

of my experience with a 12 week year, what I liked about it, the takeaways, how it works. You could definitely check that out if you want to. But that's my framework of how I go through and I basically do goal setting and how I plan my 12 week year in essence, how I plan out my business, which has worked marvelous for me. I will do like an update of how that's going. I think I'm in week 11 now. So I definitely will do an update of.

what I've been able to accomplish so far and how I'm planning to do my next 12 week year. But going through and using the smart acronym, making sure that your goals that you have, that they are specific, that they're measurable, that they're achievable, that they're relevant and that they're time bound is going to help you to be able to set realistic goals, to set these goals that you can then create tactics or tasks

to actually go through and complete those things. And they are totally aligned. what I really want you to get from this episode, if anything, and we're gonna talk even deeper into this as we go through the four part series. If you haven't, like I said, you hadn't, if you miss part number one, definitely go back, check out part number one, so you'll be caught up with us. But really what I want you to take away from this particular episode is to not skip the goal setting.

do not skip the goal setting. Actually go through and write out your goals, clarify your vision for your business, write out your big overarching vision that you have for your business, and then you will easily be able to go through and set up your day-to-day goals that you have. Because as I was going through, of bringing it back to like the 12 week year, really understanding it, I found truth in that it's not when we're growing our business and we're operating our businesses,

that is not in the, I did this growth doesn't happen overnight. And so it's really in the weeks and the days that we find success. So if like you want to predict how your business is going to do in a year, think about what you're doing today. Like, what are you doing today that is going to lead you to success and a year from now, right? Because that is where you see success in the daily wins.

And so when you have that overarching vision and then you're then able to go through and create these tasks for yourself, tasks or tactics for yourself during your day, your day to day, that's gonna help you to be able to go through and really move the needle forward in your business and to also be able to understand these are the tasks that I need to be doing and to really be able to, it's so important to understand the things that you can

eliminate, delegate, and automate, right? So eliminate things that just do not need to be done. There have been times in my business where I have gone through and I've just been doing stuff in my business that is not associated with any of my goals and it doesn't move the needle forward in any type of way, but I feel like I'm just, doing something and I feel like I'm accomplishing something, but it really doesn't serve any type of.

purpose, right? So like, can give you just a, I'm gonna give you a clear example for my business. And again, I'm a system strategist for my business. Like if I were to go through and I'm like, okay, I want to learn how to do advanced editing inside of CapCut, which is an editing program. That really is not really aligned. Is that really the best use of my time for me to learn how to do that? Or is it better for me just to say, okay, I know how to use it for basic editing.

but is it a better use of my time to just hire an editor, right? Is it better for me to hire an editor than for me to learn how to do event editing, right? And so kind of think about those particular things. And there's so, if you have a lot of tasks on your plate and you feel like you're overwhelmed, there are definitely, you wanna start to learn how to categorize these tasks, not just as far as like, what can you eliminate? What can you automate? What can you delegate?

But then also, what is actually these things that are revenue generating activities, things that are going to move the needle forward in your business? And I talked about that in episode one or in the part one, but understanding what are the things that are going to drive revenue? Is me learning how to edit as a system strategist going to move the needle forward in my business? No, I'm not editing anything else.

I'm just going through and creating it for my using it for my content. So me learning that could I be learning something else that's that will actually drive revenue? Can I be spending my time on something else that's going to drive revenue? Absolutely so. And so understanding where you can make those tweaks and being able to properly categorize.

the things that you're doing in your business is going to going to help you. So after you go through, you write out your plan is going through and just creating a focused action plan, right? Creating a focus action plan, because when you create a focus action plan and you're focusing on one goal or two goals, this is going to help you to stop necessarily multitasking and juggling so many different things in your business. But it's going to allow you to be able to focus your attention on this is the one

or tactic that I need to do that's going to lead me to set goal, And then we talked about a little bit more in part one, but then go through and actually schedule some time for you to be able to do those particular things. But definitely goal setting in its large form is going to help you when you goal set and you write out those goals. is depending on when you're watching this episode, this or listening to this episode, this is the perfect time. Cause we're going into

Every time it's a perfect time to get your systems together, right? But this is a really good time because now we're going into quarter two. And so this is a perfect time for you now to like, okay, let me just go ahead and get, if you do quarterly goal setting, let me just go ahead and get my systems and stuff together now for the next quarter, And so having these tasks, again, knowing how to go through and categorizing these tasks is going to help you to be able to do what you want to do the most.

which is to be able to serve your clients, to be able to bring in dream clients, to be able to work with the dream clients, to be able to take vacations when you wanna take vacations, to be able to boost your revenue where you're not just tied down to your computer every single day. So that is why going through and understanding how to categorize your tasks, getting these things in control is going to help you to be able to maximize your business

your business. So in part number three, we're going to talk about how you can actually go through and audit your current processes. When we work with our clients, when we build out systems for our clients, we have to also go through and audit what they're currently doing in their business. What are the current processes they have? So what is the current process for their onboarding? What is the process for offboarding? How is lead generation?

So in order to be able to start working with your systems, you have to start to audit yourself, okay? So then part number three, I'm gonna go over how you can go through and start auditing your processes and finding the gaps and inefficiencies in your business so you can put together and have a more in-lined and focused workflow so you can start to work more efficiently in your business. So definitely go through any questions that you do have.

put them inside the comments. Let me know what one of your goals are gonna be for Q2. If you're listening on the podcast, you can send me a text so I can answer any questions that you do have. Be sure to like and subscribe wherever you're watching, listening to this video. I don't want you to miss part number three, where again, we're going to go through and break down how to go through and audit your current processes. And if you miss part number one, the three time traps of...

getting you stuck into endless tasks, will link that video on the screen here and I will see you in the next episode.
